Pantone Colors of 2021 - Illuminating and Ultimate Gray

The Very Nice Group on Facebook had a challenge to come up with designs based on the Pantone colors of the year for 2021.  The colors are "illuminating" (yellow) and "ultimate gray".  Here is the inspiration picture we got.

I played a bit with the raku process a while back and got so-so results.  Then I listened to a video by Jean Tudor through the Enamelist Society, Inc and she inspired me to give it another try.  I incorporated some of her suggestions  and was able to get some really nice results.  As she says - if it doesn't come out the way you want it the first time, heat it up and try again.  In most cases it takes 2-4 tosses into the can to get the look I want - or to get the 2 parts of earrings to look somewhat similar.

A two day showcase of my jewelry and Pandanimal lampwork and jewelry starts this afternoon.  Our theme this month is "The World of Narnia".  We both read these books as kids (and we've both been refreshing our memory about them) and made our designs with Narnia in mind.  Here are just a few of the designs that will be available from me.

It's National Mutt Day and I love dogs! If you don't already know that, you will if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram.

We always get rescue dogs and right now we have 2 - Max (our little old man) and Bijou (the youngster). Max (a Westie aka West Highland White) is from Westie Rescue of OC. They do rescue mutts as well, but they focus mainly on Westies.  Bijou (a Schnauzer mix) is from Karmic Rescue.  I share pictures of both of them regularly since they're both so CUTE!

I'm doing a joint show with Pandanimal Lampwork in the LBA Designers Galleria Showcase Facebook group.  Our theme this month is Demons and Angels.  As we discussed it with each other we tossed out ideas on how to approach this so our thinking was to go with opposites - angels and demons, yin and yang, black and white.  Come check out our show to see how we interpreted this theme.  Here are pictures of a few of the designs I'll have available in the show.

A lot of us in the United States are sheltering-in-place right now to reduce the speed of transmission of the Corona virus.  I've been making jewelry (surprise!  LOL!).  It is also recommended to wear a mask when out in public so I had to see if I could make a mask with metal.  It took a bit of measuring, remeasuring, hammering, annealing, folding, hammering, annealing, ... and finally enameling. Here they are! I can stamp a tag with MD, RN, PA, CV19, or ??? Or I can dangle a gemstone below them.

Although I work at home most of the time I am staying in more than usual (no gym visits, no soccer practice !  :( ) so I have a bit of extra time.  I decided it was time to dig through my bead stash and find some beads that have been languishing for years and design with them.  Well I bought a LOT of furnace glass beads from Mingo and Asho years ago and still have quite a few so I went on a designing spree with those.  Here is just a taste :)  Some of these sold already, some are currently for sale on Facebook and the rest are on my website here.
