SMOKY FIRE EARRINGS
Artisan made grunge/rustic earrings with red, grey lampwork glass, handmade and enameled copper drops, natural zircon, oxidized sterling silver and niobium ear wires
I was challenged by a friend to make some designs that are more grunge than glitz. I took that challenge to heart and used a picture from a color challenge as the inspiration. I first created these crusty, enameled ovals in red, gray and brown. They worked perfectly with the beautiful, artisan made lampwork beads. They have beautiful depth and color - transparent red over silvered ivory. I did add a little glitz with the faceted, natural zircon rondelles that frame the lampwork and top the Czech petals. The Czech petals dangling on oxidized
sterling silver chain. All the metals are sterling except the niobium ear wires and the enameled copper ovals. They hang down about 3 1/2" (8.9 cm). They are shown hanging from hook style, niobium ear wires.
