RUSTIC RAKU EARRINGS
Artisan made organic raku enamel on copper earrings with niobium ear wires
I had more fun with the torch and flames when I made these. They are raku enamel which means that once I get the enamel color the way I want it, I heat them up one more time and then drop them into a can with shredded paper. The paper lights on fire and I
put a lid on it. As the oxygen gets used up by the flames a shimmery color forms on the enamels that have copper in them. It is a challenge to get 2 pieces to look similar since there are a lot of variables. These came out pretty close. Dropping hot, soft glass
into shredded paper means that the paper pieces will also leave some impressions in the glass which gives them an organic look. These hang from hook style, niobium ear wires, but you can pick your preferred ear wire. They hang down 1 3/8" (3.5 cm).
