MYSTERIOUS WRAPS EARRINGS
Artisan made teal, black enamel on copper cones, artisan lampwork, chrysocolla and sterling silver earrings.
I finally got a kiln for enameling because I wanted to enamel 3-D shapes for my designs. I formed these wrapped cones with copper sheet metal. Then I started layering on the enamel. I was happy that the colors I used reacted so nicely with the oxidation of the copper as it got heated up. During the final stages I wrapped copper wire around the top and enameled with crackle enamel and aqua to get even more interesting patterns. Another reaction brought out some iridescence. Needless to say I was really happy with my final result. Faceted chrysocolla dangles inside and frames the beautiful, artisan made lampwork beads! These have oil slick shards on black and they look soooo cool! All the wire is sterling silver. They are shown hanging from hook style, sterling ear wires and hang down a bit over 3.5" (8.9 cm).
