ON FIRE EARRINGS
Artisan made organic crackle enamel on copper earrings with lava, garnet, black spinel and niobium ear wires.
I wanted to create some enameled drops that would bring to mind the fires that are made on the night of the winter solstice. Tradition is to write down things from the year that you want to be rid of on a piece of paper and then throw the paper in the fire. I think most of us would just write 2020 on the paper. :) For these I combined 7 colors of glass with the crackle enamel. One of the bottom layers is a beautiful blue that peaks through on both and has a shimmer like labradorite. They hang below lava beads since I wanted to keep the fiery theme. The lava beads are framed by garnet disks and little black spinel faceted beads. They are wire wrapped with copper wire that I oxidized. They measure 2 1/2" (6.4 cm) in length and are shown hanging on niobium ear wires, but you can pick your preferred ear wire.
