FACES EARRINGS
Artisan made, rustic and organic earrings with reticulated copper, artisan lampwork, turquoise, copper wire and beads, and niobium ear wires.
These are from my Forge and Flow collection. I started these by reticulating copper sheet. This creates fabulously organic textures that I love! It takes multiple heating sessions to get "the right" look. And, in this case, the patterns the copper formed look like faces. The reticulation process is - start with copper sheet, lay a few extra pieces on top and melting just the top layers of the copper and copper bits, letting it flow a bit and then removing the heat to see how the liquid copper reshaped itself. If things aren't quite right I'll reheat and reflow until I'm happy with the texture. Then I tumble them for at least 12 hours to remove all the sharp edges. The final steps are oxidize and then sand them to brighten up the high spots.
These reticulated drops are hanging below beautiful, artisan, etched baroque beads. They have an ivory base, with silvered ivory at top and bottom, purple, blues, turquoise melted around the middle and finished off with silver sprinkles. I framed the lampwork with copper spacers and faceted turquoise beads. They are wire wrapped with copper and hang down for a total length of a bit more than 2 1/2" (6.35 cm). They are shown hanging on niobium, hook style ear wires.
