ANTIQUE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS EARRINGS
Artisan made raku enamel on copper ornament earrings with sterling silver.
I LOVE doing raku with enamels. It really gives the pyro in me a chance to have some fun! The raku on these turned out great with lots of colors and shimmer. You can see a slideshow of the process I use to make them here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/674625219175184214/.
These aren't your normal Christmas earrings. LOL!
I love this ornament shape. It reminds me of vintage ornaments. When I started these I was hoping for a cool green and red crackle enamel effect. They did not come out the way I envisioned and I wasn't too happy with them. I decided to coat them in a transparent green and raku them. I love the way they came out of the raku fire. The crackel enamel shows up in the shimmer of the raku. They are shown hanging from hook style, sterling silver ear wires. The earrings hang down for a total length of 1 1/3" (3.8 cm). If you prefer leverbacks I will have to modify the design a bit by adding rings above the ornaments so they can hang from the leverbacks.
