COPPER CRUSTIES EARRINGS
Artisan made blue green grunge crusty enamel earrings with blue green lampwork glass, handmade fold formed, forged and enameled copper drops and niobium ear wires.
A bead making friend challenged me to make some grunge designs and here's one. I started with copper sheet, I cut it, put a hole in it, then folded, hammered, heated, unfolded, hammered, folded again, heated, ... You get the picture. :) Once it had enough creases in it
I started enameling and making it crusty. There are 4 different colors of glass on it along with transparent glass. I made these because I wanted to hang one of my friends copper and silver rings inside the circle. I had to do some shaping to get the inner part of the hole
to stick out so I could hang the ring and let it move freely. I balled up some copper wire, enameled the ball and then hammered, torched, hammered, ... to flatten the wire and give it some grunge look. The rings swing freely and can turn around or do whatever they want in their opening. They hang down about 2 1/2" (6.4 cm). They are also about 2 1/2" (6.4 cm) wide at the widest point. They are shown hanging from hook style, niobium ear wires.
